Marius Briel
Marius Briel is an external Ph.D. candidate in surgical robotics at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), Department of Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering, where he is a team member of the Surgical Planning and Robotic Cognition (SPARC) laboratory. He received his B.Sc. and MSc Degrees in Mathematics from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in 2019 and 2022 respectively, and is employed at the ZEISS Innovation Hub @ KIT , a research and innovation unit of Carl Zeiss AG in Karlsruhe.
Marius Briel is working on the European Union-funded Geyedance project, which aims to improve robotic eye surgery through AI guidance. The overall goal of his research is to assist vitreoretinal surgeons by providing learning ‐ based intraoperative assistance functions .
His research interests include computer- and robot-assisted surgery, online estimation algorithms and deep learning in medical imaging.
